6 held for Mainpuri violence
Lucknow, Jun 7 (UNI) Police today arrested six people in connection with yesterday's violence in Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh.
Talking to reporters this evening, Secretary (Home) Javed Ahmed said three more policemen had been suspended for dereliction of duty.
The concerned station officers had already been suspended.
Scores, including two policemen, were wounded as members of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) clashed with police in Kishni area.
Incensed over the auction of the property of BSP leader Nirmal Singh, who is wanted in the murder of a Samajwadi Party worker Ashish Yadav alias Neelu, BSP activists pelted the police station with stones and torched a PAC truck and two motorcycles.
The BSP leader is the husband of Nagar Palika chairperson Sarla Chauhan and is absconing after the murder on May 26.
