Wakf Council to give grant only once in five years
New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) The Central Wakf Council has decided it would not give any grant to an organisation more than once in five years.
It has also decided that no grant would be given to those organisations which have received it from Maulana Azad Education Foundation for vocational training/ITI.
These decisions were taken at the 51st meeting of the Wakf Council presided over by Minister for Minorities Affairs A R Antulay here last week.
The Minister reviewed its Educational and Development programmes and functioning of the Council's Planning and Advisory, Education and Women Welfare, Wakf Development and Monitoring Committees.
On the issue of Maulana Azad Education Foundation's refusal to consider the applications of educational institutions run by various Wakf Boards, it was agreed that the Minority Affairs Ministry will take appropriate action to make such Wakfs eligible for grants from the Foundation.
The participants decided to monitor the projects under the Scheme for the Development of Urban Wakf Properties and Educational Programmes through regular inspections.
The Meeting also approved Revised Estimates for the Council for the year 2006-07 and Budget Estimates for the year 2007-08.
