Villagers break pots to protest water shortage

Puducherry, Jun 6 (UNI) The villagers of Aandiyarpalayam and Pillaiarthittu today staged a novel agitation, protesting against non-availability of drinking water in their villages for the last six months, by breaking empty water pots in front of the Ariyankuppam commune panchayat.

Following the agitation, the Panchayat President held talks with the agitators and assured them that drinking water would be provided to them immediately through tanker lorries and a permanent solution would be mooted shortly to solve the scarcity of drinking water.
