Three police personnel injured in group clash
Tumkur, Jun 6 (UNI) Prohibitory orders under Section 144 were clamped here even as several people, including three police personnel, were injured in a group clash between two communities over a piece of land used as burial ground in the outskirts today.
Police said the trouble began when people belonging to one community tried to bury a dead body in the disputed land and were prevented by people belonging to another community.
Teargas shells were lobbed when lathi charge failed to quell the groups which indulged in stone pelting at each other.
Three police personnel among several others were injured in the incident.
The situation was tense but under control. Additional police force were also rushed.
