Vijayawada, June 6 (UNI) Senior BJP (BJP) Leader and former party chief M Venkaiah Naidu today appealed to all political parties to support Vice-President Bharion Singh Shekawat as the next President of India.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Naidu said the parties should support Mr Shekawat as he was impartial in his public life.

''It was unfortunate that there was no consensus among the political parties at the national level to announce the next presidential candidate, he said.'' Mr Naidu declined to comment on the G0 610, which stipulates repatriation of non-locals working in Telangana to other regions.

He was here to attend the funeral of veteran TDP Leader Sunkara Satyanarayana who died here yesterday at the age of 81.

Prior to joining the TDP set up by late N T Rama Rao, Satyanarayana was the State Vice-President of the erstwhile Swatantra Party and was a Central Committee Member of the Janata Party.
