Revival package for Apex Bank on anvil: Khandu

Itanagar, June 06 (UNI) A Central grant of Rs 225 crore is in the pipeline to revive the state-owned Arunachal Pradesh Cooperative Apex Bank.

Speaking to newspersons here today, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu said the sanctioned amount would be released within a month.

Mr Khandu, who took oath on April nine as the state's fifth chief minister, announced three-point agenda, including, streamlining of Public Distribution System (PDS), revival of apex bank and checking corruption.

The chief minister had already streamlined the PDS in the state.

Mr Khandu said, ''The government will continue its recovery drive and will punish the defaulters and the officials responsible for the present sorry state of affairs of the bank.'' Mr Khandu informed that his government is contemplating communitisation of one primary school in each constituency for improving education in the rural areas.

''This will be purely on experimental basis and be gradually extended to all the educational institutions in all level, he said.

Elaborating on the process, he said the schools would be placed under the village committee's management. ''The salary and other expenditures would be borne by the state government,'' Mr Khandu said.

Meanwhile, the state government had decided to release pending bonus to its employees within Aughst 15 next, Mr Khandu informed.
