Hyderabad, Jun 6 (UNI) The meeting of seven regional parties here today resolved to reject the Indo-US nuclear deal saying it was''totally deterimental to national interest.'' Briefing newsmen on the resolution adopted at the meeting hosted by the Telugu Desam Party, AIADMK General Secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha alleged that the deal was ''totally deterimental to national Interest''.

The Congress party, which claimed to be the ''guardian'' of Indian Mulsims, has hurt the sentiments of he community by making the country's ''Iran policy'', handmaid of US foreign policy objectives in line with the requirements of the Hyde Act, she alleged.

The Hyde Act violated the basic and fundamental understanding in the July 18,2005 joint-statement of India being treated on par with the United States in the nuclear sphere, implicitly enjoying, for all intents and purposes, nuclear weapon state status, she argued.

The Act in contravention of the joint-statement meant to translate India's voluntary test moratorium into a legally binding commitment not not to test again and imposed International Atomic Energy safeguards and additional protocol relevant to non-nuclear weaon states on India's civilian nuclear facilities in perpetuity, the parties contended.
