Record procurement of wheat in Haryana
Chandigarh, June 6 (UNI) The six government procuring agencies in Haryana have procured 33.34 lakh tonnes of wheat which was 11.04 lakh tonnes more than the previous year's procurement.
Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said over 36.96 lakh tonnes of wheat had arrived in the state mandis so far during the current rabi season and 90 per cent of the total arrival had been purchased by the government procuring agencies.
The traders have purchased 3.62 lakh tonnes of wheat which was 10 per cent of the total arrival, he added.
He said 12.84 lakh tonnes had been procured by Hafed, 8.10 lakh tonnes by the Food and Supplies Department, 3.48 lakh tonnes by Food Corporation of India, 3.32 lakh tonnes by Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation, 2.91 lakh tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 2.65 lakh tonnes by Confed.
Mr Chander Mohan said Sirsa district was leading in wheat arrival with over 6.68 lakh tonnes, followed by Fatehabad with 5.08 lakh tonnes, Jind with 4.50 lakh tonnes, Kaithal with 4.45 lakh tonnes, Karnal with about 4.39 lakh tonnes, Kurukshetra with 2.97 lakh metric tonnes and Ambala 1.06 lakh MTs.
