Rajasthan Police bags Vriksha Mitra Prize
Jaipur, June 6 (UNI) Rajasthan Police have bagged the prestigious Indira Priyadarshini Vriskha Mitra award in recognition of their successful drive for plantation, water harvesting, soil conservation and protection of the enviornment.
Additional director general of police (Telecommunications) Bhaskar Chatterjee received the award from Union External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee at a function held on the World Enviornment Day yesterday in New Delhi. Union Minister of state for Forest and Enviornment Namo Narayan Meena was also present on the occassion.
The award for the year 2004 under the ''government institutions' category comprised of Rs 1.25 lakh in cash, memento and a certificate of merit.
Rajasthan police have carried out extensive plantation drives in Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Dausa districts during 2004 UNI
