R R Patil inaugurates police hospital in Thane

Thane, Jun 6: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R R Patil today inaugurated the Rs two crore Thane Police Hospital and sports complex here.

Speaking after the inauguration, Mr Patil asked members of the Maharashtra police constabulary to provide 'A' class services to the society in order to get 'A' Class benefits in various forms from the members of the society.

Mr Patil lauded the services undertaken in the commissionerate and said that efforts were on to give more relief to the members of the state police force.

He said efforts were on to increase training facility for policemen and once the newly recruited policemen, numbering 22,000 were fully trained, those who are presently serving for hours togather at a stretch would have much relief.

A coastal commissionerate for Thane could also materialise soon.

Thane and surrounding areas were growing rapidly and to meet the growing needs, additional staffs would be provided on a priority basis.

In addition to this, he said that the proposal for six new police stations were cleared and would be set up in phased manner in Thane.

Citing example of the recent attacks on policemen, Mr Patil said the police will retaliate in self-defence against anti-social elements.

Mr Shivanandan declared that efforts were on to have a tie up with the Wokhardt hospital to give additional medical services to the policemen.
