Petrol, diesel prices hiked in New Delhi
New Delhi, Jun 6: Prices of petrol and diesel have been hiked in the city following the new tax structure, effective from midnight today.
The rise in the prices came with the Delhi government 'withdrawing concessions' on the fuels, given in June last.
With this while prices of petrol in the Capital rose by 67 paise, diesel prices inflated by 23 paise due to the new tax structure on petroleum products coming into force in the national capital, a senior government official said.
Now Delhiites would have to shell out Rs 43.52 for a litre of petrol as compared to Rs 42.85 and for an equivalent amount of diesel they would be paying Rs 30.48 instead of the earlier Rs 30.25.
The increase in the prices of petroleum products have been due to the withdrawl of June 2006 notification which buffered Delhiites against spiralling prices, the official added.
