Bhubaneswar, Jun 6 (UNI) The Orissa government today stopped 'wonder kid' Budhia Singh's 500 kms long marathon walk to Kolkata amid high drama finally leading him and his supporters to sit on dharna against the action.

Budhia Singh Trust (BST), which earlier announced the marathon walk, yesterday dissociated from such event and its chairman Biranchi Das, also Budhia's coach, resigned from the post in the wake of the Khurda district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) restraining the trust from organising such an event.

Last night the CWC again issued another order stating that anyone organising such marathons would be prevented and directed the district administration to stop Budhia's marathon walk.

Earlier today, Budhia, who had already entered into the Limca book of record for his non-stop 65 kms marathon walk from Puri to Bhubaneswar last year, started the journey along with hundreds of his supporters following which police inter vened and cordoned off the area.

Khurda Superintendent of Police Amitav Thakur, who arrived at the spot with the District Collector, prevented Budhia from undertaking the marathon walk stating that the CWC has directed to prevent the join the marathon under the Juvenile Justice Act.
