New Dalit Minister for Pondy

Puducherry, June 6 (UNI) Mr M Kandasamy, elected from Bahour, is to be appointed as minister in the Rangasamy Cabinet here.

Sources said Chief Minister M Rangasamy called on Lt Gov Mukut Mithi at the Raj Bhavan here today and handed over a letter recommending the appointment of Mr Kandasamy as a Minister.

Mr Mithi will forward the recommendation for approval by the Union Home Ministry.

Mr Kandasamy, a Dalit member, is to be appointed in place of Mr Angalan who resigned following a family dispute.

With his induction, the strength of the Rangasamy Cabinet will go to six.
