Mizo cop accused of killing Tripura boy

Agartala, Jun 6 (UNI) Tripura police have asked their Mizoram counterpart to ensure surrender by next of the Mizo police constable, two days who was accused of killing an eight-year-old tribal boy in Kanchanpur area, bordering Mizoram.

Police said a group of Mizoram police allegedly stormed a house at Mongpui locality along the border yesterday while Samsanglal Vinthara, the sub-inspector opened fire from his service AK 47 rifles on Bimal Chakma.

Bimal sustained serious bullet injuries and expired in the hospital last night.

The incident triggered strong resentment among the villagers and they demanded punishment of the Mizo cop.

Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police (North) Arjun Debbarmma had spoken to his Mizoram counterpart referring the case registered against the police officer and asked him to make arrangement for the surrender of the cop along with his service rifles.

Talking to UNI, Mr Debbarmma said an investigating team would be sent to Mizoram soon who would also meet the villagers as well as the police in Mamit district of Mizoram.
