Lightning claims 46 lives in Marathwada since May 31
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, June 6 (UNI) Lightning has claimed 46 lives in the Marathwada region since May 31, while 36 farm animals too have perished after being struck by lightning.
Divisional Commissionerate sources informed that most of the victims were citner farmers or farm labourers.
The sources said financial assistance has been provided to the next-of-kin of the victims. An assistance of Rs one lakh is provided to the family in the event of the death of an adult member, while if the victim is below 18 years, the next-of-kin is provided Rs 50,000.
Lightning had claimed as many as nine lives yesterday, the sources said.
