Jaipur, June 6 (UNI) Rajasthan police have transferred the investigating officer in the Bitti Mohanty parole jump case midway through the investigation.

The transfer is being viewed in the light of the searches he conducted in the office and residence of Orissa DGP (Fire Services) BB Mohanty during the state police's attempt to arrest the high ranking police official on May 29.

However, the state police said Circle Inspector Virendra Jakhar was transferred to southern most district of Banswara on complaints of 'Bandi'(monthly extortion) from vendors.

Inspector general of Jaipur Range I, OP Galhotra said, ''An investigation was conducted against him on the charges of monthly extortion from vendors of Ram Niwas bagh which come under his jurisdiction and he was found guilty of corruption''.

Mr Jakhar has been serving as the Station House Officer(SHO) of Jaipur's Lal Kothi police station where an FIR against DGP Mohanty was registered in January.

Mohanty is charged with giving his surety, for the parole of his son Bitti, convicted of raping a German girl and allegedly concealing facts and harbouring his son who is absconding after being freed from Jaipur central jail on parole.

However, Mr Jhakar, disputing the official reason said he came to know of his transfer on way back home from Orissa. He said Orissa' DGP Amaranand Patnaik expressed his displeasure with the searches, reminding him Rajasthan DGP AS Gill and BB Mohanty were his batch mates.
