Increased Public transport fares notified

New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) The Delhi Government today notified the increased fares of public transport-- Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus service, autos and taxis-- with immediate effect .

While the minimum fare for DTC has been increased to Rs 3 from Rs 2, without disturbing the rest of the structure, the basic fare for autos will now start from Rs 10 instead of Rs 8. For taxis it shall be Rs 15 per km in place of Rs 13.

For autos, the journey after the first kilometer will now cost Rs 4.50 per km, a hike of one rupee over the previous structure and a cab ride will be dearer by Rs 1.50 at Rs 8.50 per km.

Announcing the review, which was a long-standing demand of auto and taxi operators, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said the hike was minimum, keeping in mind the interest of the general public.

The DTC, facing crippling losses, will get additional revenue of Rs 45 crore.
