HC permits Amarinder to go abroad for medical check up

Chandigarh, June 6 (UNI) Former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh was today granted permission by the Punjab and Haryana High Court here to go to Britain from June 10 to July 25 for medical check up and surgery, if required.

Justice Uma Nath Singh vacation judge who accepted the prayer of Capt Singh in this respect at the end of daylong arguments, observed that the petitioner would return to India by June 20, unless the clinical investigations indicated the need for surgery. In case of surgery, the petitioner would be permitted to stay abroad till July 25, as mentioned in his petition for permission.

Capt Singh is among the accused in the multi-crore scam pertaining to the award of construction contract to New Delhi-based Today Homes for setting up the City Centre project of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust.
