Chennai, June 6 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today said files relating to issuance of "Essentiality Certificate" for new medical and dental colleges need not be sent to the Chief Minister and the certificates could be issued after circulating the files to the Health Minister, through the Chief Secretary.

A release from the Chief Minister's Office said similar practice could be followed for allowing existing private medical and dental colleges to increase the strength of the students.

The Essentiality Certificates could be issued after obtaining the consent of the Health Minister as long as the colleges fulfilled the conditions and guidelines laid down by the Medical Council of India, it said.
