chandigarh bowled out Patiala 197 in 79.c overs
Patiala, June 6 (UNI) Chandigarh are happily placed with 49 for 1 wicket after bowling out the formidable Patiala side for a modest total of 197 in 79.3 overs on the opening day of the Punjab State Inter-District cricket (Under-19) for Dhruve Pandove Trophy here at the Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium.
Patiala won the toss and opted to bat first. Amitoj Singh was the star performer, scoring 83 runs in a whirlwind fashion. In his 108 balls stay at the wicket, he hit 12 fours and 2 towering sixes.
Jeevanjot Singh also played a superb innings of 47 and in association with Amitoj Singh he added 104 runs for the second wicket. Karan Kanojia scored 28 in style.
For Chandigarh, Gurinder Singh and Rahul Chara bagged 4 wickets each, giving away 50 and 60 runs respectively. Shivam Khurana was unbeaten on 30 and Vishal Singh was 4 not out when Chandigarh were 49 for 1 at close of play. Inform batsman Shahnawaz was run out when he was on 14.
When the play resumes tomorrow, Patiala bowling attack will be put to acid test by the formidable Chandigarh batting line-up.
