Bainsla signed deal under pressure: Gujjar leaders

Jaipur, June 6: A section of Gujjar leaders felt let down by their leader Col Kirori Singh Bainsla, saying he was made to sign the agreement with the state government under pressure.

At a press conference here today, Gujjar leaders and Congress legislators Govind Singh Gujjar (Nasirabad) and Ramchandra Saradhana (Jamwaramgarh), said the agreement signed with Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is not clear on many points including the time of formation of three member panel and the time when the state government will send its recommendations to the Centre.

They agreed that although the deal is likely to establish peace in the riot-hit state, it is not in favour of the community.

They reiterated that the Gujjars would restart their agitation once the time period of the panel is over and if nothing comes off it, but assured it will be held peacefully.

Mr Govind Singh Gujjar said the agitating Gujjars were surrounded and hounded by policemen and army and their food and water supply was totally cut off. Four protestors had to share one chapathi. He said that no government has indulged in such favouritism as this BJP government, making clear its preference for the Meena community, he alleged.

Mr Saradhana said under such circumstances, Col Bainsla had no option but to sign the deal.

Not belittling Col Bainsla's leadership, a section of Gujjar leaders are sad that their agitation ultimately fizzled off after reaching such crescendo, he said.

They are demanding that cases be lodged against Food and Supply Minister Kirori Lal Meena for provocative statements during the agitation.

They also demanded that a case under Section 302 of the IPC be lodged against Additional SP, Dausa, Kalyan Mal Meena for shooting at peacefully protesting Gujjars, inciting them to retaliate.

Apart from a ''mahapanchayat'' of Gujjars in Pushkar on June 8, the they will also meet in the state capital the next day to decide on their future strategy.
