UP youth attempts offering head in HP temple

Dharamshala, June 5 (UNI) In a bizarre incident, a youth from Uttar Pradesh attempted to offer his head to a goddess in a temple here in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh last evening, police sources today said.

Jagat Pal, a resident of Abdullah village of Hardoi district of UP, attempted to offer his head to Jawalamukhi Goddess after paying his obeisance at the temple and meditating for sometime.

The sources said he went on to the tomb of the temple by a staircase later and silt his throat with a sharp-edged weapon after raising slogans of Jai Mata Di.

As soon as his wind and food pipes were cut he fell unconscious following which there was chaos in the temple.

The sources said he had come alone to the shrine to pay his obeisance after the goddess directed him to come to her in the dream.

Referrring to Daynoo Bhagat, who had offered his head in sacrifice at Nagarkot Dham of Bajjreshwari Temple decades ago, the sources quoting him said he was replicating that incident here.

The sources said he was immediately rushed to hospital where he was operated upon and saved.
