Lucknow, June 5 (UNI) After megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been denied his claimed status of a 'farmer' by a Divisional Commissioner's court in Uttar Pradesh, the heat is now turned on his wife and Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha member from the state over her membership issue.

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly secretariat has sought details of the Commissioner court's judgement regarding land alloted to Mr Bachchan to decide on the Rajya Sabha membership of his wife Jaya Bachchan.

Returning officer of Rajya Sabha elections and principal secretary (Assembly) R P Pandey is to pronounce judgement on whether Jaya Bachchan should lose her RS membership as she had failed to furnish details in the affidavit filed for the RS elections pertaning to the farming land the Bachchans owned in Barabanki.

With the Commissioner's court in Faizabad observing that the documents relating to farming land being fudged, it becomes clear that the Bachchans owned land in Barabanki when Ms Bachchan filed her RS nomination.

''While now the court has declared that Mr Bachchan is not a farmer in UP, the land was in fact in their name when Ms Bachchan filed her nomination papers,'' said an official associated with the case.

A magisterial probe has reportedly found that Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan did not reveal land properties in her affidavit at the time of filing her nomination for the Rajya Sabha last year.

According to official sources, the report of the district magistrate of Barabanki has said that Ms Jaya Bachchan and her husband Amitabh Bachchan owned two plots in Daulatpur village.
