Two women among seven animals burnt in HP

Shimla, Jun 5 (UNI) A mother and a daughter, and seven animals were burnt alive in two separate fire incidents in Kinnuar district of Himachal Pradesh, police sources today said.

In the first incident, 50-year old woman, identified as Padma Khanmo, and her 18-year old daughter, identified as Angmo, were brunt to death in Shalvar village, about 135 km from the district headquarter of Reckong Peo, on Monday.

The sources said the villagers battled fierce flames for several hours in order to save the women, but failed.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, they said, adding that a case has been registered and investigations were on.

In the second incident in the district, three cows and buffaloes and one ram were burnt to death in Chaura village of the district, the sources said.

The district administration has announced an immediate relief of Rs 10,000 each to the affected families besides clothing and promised all possible help.

Local legislator Jagat Singh Negi has expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives and property in the incidents.
