Sulakshana shores up Asian innings to a respectable 105 for nine
Bangalore, Jun 5 (UNI) A fighting knock of 31 by opener Sulakshana Naik(34 b 5x4) and some lusty hitting by tailenders Kumarihami (22 n o) and Urooj Mumtaz (18), enabled Asia to post a total of 105 for nine in the allotted 20 overs against Africa in the Women's Afro-Asia Cup Twenty20 match played at M Chinnaswamy stadium here today.
A hostile spell of medium pace bowling by left-handed Ashlyn Petro (3/16) left Asia reeling at three wickets for just four runs, but Sulakshana shored up the innings well to help the hosts post a satisfying total. After the Indian opener left at 8/64, Kumarihami and Urooj Mumtaz of Pakistan boosted the Asian tally past the three figures by adding 26 runs for the ninth wicket. Kumarhami struck three well-hit boundaries in her short innings of just 18 balls.
The other African medium pacer Milo Thandolwenkos (2/20) also proved tough to handle for the Asian batters. Julle Chibhabha took 1/14, while three Asian batters fell run out as Africans proved quite sharp in the field.
