Seven die in rain-related incidents in Nashik

Nashik, June 4 (UNI) Seven people have been killed in rain-related incidents in the district.

District Collector S Chakkalingam today said seven peole lost their lives due to heavy rains since the past three days.

The deceased include Tarabai P (50), Pandu Rama Palve, Baujabai Ragho Raut (32), Tarabai Thakre, Vasanti Ramesh Tople (22), Nimba Mahipat More (55) and Dagu Pandurang Jadhav.

One Sunita Vishnu Kande and Nanda Vishnu Kande were injured after they were struck by lightning. Four heads of cattle were also killed due to lightning.

The rain recorded in various places is as follows: Igatpuri - 179 mm, Trimbakeshwar - 104 mm, Nashik - 93 mm, Sinnar - 76 mm, Kalwan - 74 mm.

The district collector said it has four boats, enough life jackets and other equipments required for emergencies. ''We can use choppers of combat army aviation training school for rescue operations,'' he added.
