Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, June 5 (UNI) The district police today took into custody Kwamen Apele, a Republic of Ghana national, when he arrived here to collect money from a medical college student who posed as a businessman.

Speaking to newspersons here, Superintendent of Police, Soumya Mishra said Apele and his associates established contact with Warangal based Muralidhar who introduced himself as Agarwal through the internet.

The gang which promised to help him win the British global online lottery, told him he had won one million pounds (Rs eight crore) and asked him to pay a processing fee of Rs 14 lakh online.

However, sensing foul play, Muralidhar asked to send someone to collect the amount at his place in Warangal.

When Apele came here on Monday night, Muralidhar realised was a cheat and informed the police.

The police during interrogation found Apele was part of a gang involved in duping people in India. The police are searching for his associates Davidson Johnson, Jorge and others.
