Panipat Sugar Mill to be shifted to Chhajpur village

Chandigarh, Jun 5 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to shift Cooperative Sugar Mill, Panipat to Chhajpur village and it would be set up at a cost of Rs 140 crore with a crushing capacity of 35000 tonnes per day alongwith a Distillery of 15 kilo litre per day capacity.

Commissioner and Secretary (Cooperation) D S Dhesi apprised the Chief MinisterBhupinder Singh Hooda that 8 MW power plant would be set up in the Sugar Mills premises at a cost of Rs 32 crore and the distillery would also be set up at a cost of Rs 25 crore.

The funds for setting up of this project would be raised out of sale of land of existing site of Sugar Mills.

The decision was taken in a meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister here, an official spokeman said.

The Chief Minister desired that the Cooperative Sugar Mills Panipat should be made financially viable for which it was necessary to establish a modern Sugar Mills of bigger capacity outside the urban population of Panipat city, he said.

The Haryana government also decided to shift the site of the Cooperative Sugar Mills Rohtak to village "Bhali" for which necessary land for new project has been acquired. Funds for establishment of a modern Sugar Mills Rohtak at village Bhali will be raised out of sale consideration of 113.5 acre land of existing site, the spokesman said.
