'Panch' witness says 28 cartridges recovered from Praveen's house

Mumbai, June 5 (UNI) A ''panch'' witness today told the court that 28 cartridges were recovered from the house of Praveen Mahajan who stands accused of murdering his elder brother and BJP leader Pramod Mahajan.

Arvind Patel, the ninth witness to be examined in the case so far, said this while deposing before Additional Sessions Judge S P Davare today in reply to a question by special public prosecutor Ujwal Nikam.

The cartridges were recovered from a cupboard in Praveen Mahajan's house at Thane, the witness said. He said 20 cartridges were kept in one box and eight cartridges in another box. His cross examination will continue on Thursday.

Earlier, another witness Suresh Ambre denied that he had told the police that a bullet had remained obstructed in the chamber of the revolver. Upon being cross-examined by defence advocate Harshad Ponda as to how the police had recorded such a statement of his, he said, ''I do not know how it was written.'' UNI
