Namdhari retains Daltonganj assembly seat
Daltonganj, Jun 5: Independent candidate and former speaker Inder Singh Namdhari retained the Daltonganj assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Anil Chaurasia (All Jharkhand Students' union) by more than 10,000 votes.
Mr Namdhari polled 41,637 votes against Mr Chaurasia's tally of 31,444 by-election to which was held on June 2.
BSP's Boby Khan was placed in the third position bagging 16,132 votes followed by ruling UPA candidate K N Tripathy (Cong).
Counting began at 0800 hrs amid tight security.
About 2.5 lakh voters exercised their franchise in the bypoll that was necessitated after Mr Namdhari resigned from the seat following an intra-party conflict.
