Mittal on US visit, to faciliate Indo-US trade relations
New Delhi, June 5 (UNI) A delegation of CEOs headed by CII President Sunil Bharti Mittal is on a visit to the US to strengthen and facilitate the trade relations between India and the US.
The mission is in continuation to the various initiatives of CII for the US.
Various issues like H1B visas, banking licences, GSP for gems and jewellery, state taxes in the US (especially in New Jersey) and their implications on the Indian companies in the US are on the agenda.
Mr Mittal is likely to call on Senator Hillary Clinton today.
In the past four days, the delegation met several prominent leaders, opinion makers, senators and government officials, including Nick Burns, Under Secretary for Political Affairs, US Department of State; Frank Lavin, Under Secretary, US Department of Commerce; Michael Johanns, Secretary Agriculture, Senator Max Baucus, Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance.
Others include, Ambassador Karan Bhatia, Deputy USTR; Rod Hunter, Senior Director for International Trade, Energy and the Environment, National Security Council, The White House; Karen Harbert, Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs and Mr Sam Bodman, Secretary, Department of Energy.
The other members of the mission include Hari S Bhartia, Co-Chairman and Managing Director, Jubilant Organosys Ltd, C K Birla, Chairman, Hindustan Motors Ltd, Tarun Das Chief Mentor, Confederation of Indian Industry, Atul Punj, Chairman, Punj Lloyd Ltd, Analjit Singh, Chairman - Max India Ltd and Suhel Seth, Managing Director, Counselage India.
