Gujarat Govt accedes to employees' demands
Gandhinagar, June 5 (UNI) The Gujarat Government today accepted all the five major demands of state government employees who had threatened to launch a statewide agitation from June 12.
The state government acceded to the demands after holding a meeting with leaders of different associations including Officers Federations, Sachivalaya Federation, and Gujarat State Employees Coordination Committee, according to a release here.
It has been decided to give government employees benefit of Dearness Allowance from April 1, 2004 and pay the arrears by March end next year. The arrears will be deposited in the GPF of the staff.
The government staff will now get Leave Travel Concession (LTC) for to-and-fro travel of 6,000 km. The government has agreed to review 9-18-27 scale and to give 12-24 scale from the date of appointment. This will be implemented from the day of the order and no old case will be reviewed.
The government will implement its order of July last year on residential plots to government staff and also expedite the filling of vacant posts through promotion without waiting for clearance by the Finance Department.
The employees had gone on a day's strike on May one and had gaven a call for an indefinite strike from June 12 to press for these demands.
