Disclose full report of Ranga Rao Committee: CPI

Hyderabad, Jun 5 (UNI) Asserting that the CPI, spearheading a stir for land to the poor, will not be cowed down by ''foisting'' of cases by the Andhra Pradesh Government, the party today demanded that the full report of the K Ranga Rao Committee on land issues be made public.

Speaking to mediapersons here, CPI State Secretary K Narayana urged the government to withdraw all cases registered against the party activists agitating for land, formation of a separate ministry and a separate wing in the judiciary to deal with the land-related cases.

Referring to cases registered against him and other party workers for hoisting a red flag on a piece of land allegedly encroached upon by some influential person in neighbouring Rangareddy district recently, he said, ''the government is totally mistaken if it thinks it can suppress the stir by resorting to arm-twisting tactics.'' He demanded formation of an all-party committee under the chairmanship of the Joint Collector in all districts to deal with land-related issues.

Disputing the Congress charge that the Communists stir would only indirectly benefit the TDP, he said his party for long was fighting for land to the poor, irrespective of the party in power.

Instead of blaming the Left parties, the Congress Government should immediately identify all such lands encroached upon by influential people and give them back to poors he added.
