CPI demands disbanding of ''Salwa Judum''

Hyderabad, Jun 5 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today urged the Rajasekhara Reddy Government in Andhra Pradesh to exert pressure on the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre to direct the Chhattisgarh Government to disband the 'Salwa Judum,' comprising tribal youth, formed to fight naxals.

The 'Salwa Judum,' instead of fighting the ultras, was instilling fear among the tribals, resulting in their migration to Andhra Pradesh, CPI State Secretary and National Executive Member K Narayana told a press conference here.

Mr Narayana, who wrote to the Chief Minister, also wanted the state government to take up directly with the Chhattisgarh Government the problem posed by the exodus of tribals to Andhra Pradesh following the alleged excesses by 'Salwa Judum.' UNI
