Congress leaders hail victory of party candidate in bypoll
Mangalore, June 5 (UNI) Opposition leader in the Karnataka Assembly Dharam Singh today thanked all sections of the society in the Ullal constituency for ''wholeheartedly'' supporting the Congress party.
Reacting to the victory of party candidate U T Khader by more than 8000 votes over his nearest BJP candidate Chandrasekhar Uchil, Mr Singh said it was a 'befitting rejection' of the communal politics played by both the BJP and its allies JD(S) at the hustings.
KPCC president Mallikarjuna Kharge also lauded the Ullal voters for defeating the communal forces despite a high voltage campaign undertaken by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to defeat the Congress.
