CM makes triple hat-trick, wins from Poriem ninth term
Panaji, June 5 (UNI) Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane made a triple hat-trick today by winning the Assembly elections from North Goa's Poriem constituency for a ninth successive term since 1972.
He is also chief minister for the fifth term.
Mr Rane won the election by a margin of 3,736 votes against his nearest BJP rival Vasudev Parab in a triangular contest. He polled 10,605 votes, while Mr Parab secured 6,869 votes.
He had first contested in 1972 on a Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) ticket and later on Congress (U), besides the Congress.
