BJP wins Hamirpur parliamentary seat
Hamirpur, Jun 5 (UNI) The BJP today retained the Hamirpur Parliamentary seat with its candidate former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal winning the elections with over a margin of 75,000 votes, official sources said.
Mr Dhumal humbled his Congress candidate and state Forest Minister Ram Lal Thakur with over 75,000 votes to capture the seat, which fell vacant after BJP MP Suresh Chandel was suspended from Lok Sabha following his involvement in the ''cash for query scam''.
Mr Thakur has lost the Parliamentary elections from this constituency for the third successive term. He suffered defeat twice earlier at the hands of the suspended BJP MP.
