Belgium to promote trade ties with India

Chennai, Jun 5 (UNI) Consul General of Belgium Herman Merckx today said his government would extend full support to India, especially Tamil Nadu, for promoting trade ties between the countries.

Delivering address at a seminar on 'How to start business with Belgium', organised by Madras Chamber of Commerce here, he said Belgium government would create a conducive atmosphere to all Indian business persons, who were ready to invest in various fields.

"Our government has already made various business concessions, such as tax and security charge exemption, to those who want to set up a base in Belgium," he added.

Mr Merckx, however, admitted that Belgium entrepreneurs had no idea about the huge sales potential in India and were completely misinformed by their local media of what India is and how various industries were working in India.

"Huge awarness has to be created among our businessmen about the bright business areas in India", he said adding "our country needs raw materials, semi-finished goods, furniture and silk and hand made materials from India".

He invited all Indian businessmen to his country to tap potential areas for long-term business investments.
