3 injured as hailstorms play havoc in Akola

Akola, Jun 5 (UNI) Three persons were injured, two of them in a house collapse, yesterday following heavy rains and hailstorms in this district.

The tin roofs of houses were blown off, and rural parts of the district were plunged into darkness following power disruption due to the rains.

An elderly couple, Tukaram Namdeo Andhale (70) and his wife Parvati (60), were injured when their brick house collpased. A third person, Ramesh Berad, was also injured in the hail storm, according to reports reaching here from village Umra. The low-lying areas in rural parts of the district were submerged.

The hailstorms have damaged the summer crops and the revenue department is assessing the extent of damage, report added.
