Chandigarh, June 4 (UNI) Electricity consumers in Haryana will now be able to make payment of bills through 'I-Pay' machines on the pattern on Bank ATMs.

The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has already authorised two firms to install I-Pay at Sector-8, Sector-20 and Power Colony Industrial Area, Panchkula for the local consumers.

A UHBVN spokesman today said that the process of installing these machines was in advance stages at other places also. Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal and Yamunanagar each would have three "I-Pay" machines soon.

Two machines each were being installed at Ambala and Kurukshetra.

Kaithal, Jind, Jhajjar and Bahadurgarh would also have one Pay machine each.

The machines would be installed at safe places where chowkidars would be available. The 'I-Pay' machines would be operational on all days including holidays except on January 26, August 15 and October two.

Meanwhile the Haryana Power Distribution Corporations have decided to accept cash payment of electricity bills upto Rs 25,000 at the Cash Collection Centres in the state as against the earlier limit of Rs 10,000 only.

The Power Utilities had been accepting the payment of bills above Rs 10,000 through cheques only. The last date of making payment of electricity bills through cheques was normally a day before the final due date.

As many domestic and non-domestic consumers had installed air conditioners in their premises in urban areas, the bills of a majority of the small and medium category industrial consumers had exceeded Rs 10,000. Keeping this in view it had been decided to raise the cash limit for payment to Rs 25,000.

He said that this facility has been provided in the urban area as the electricity bills of the consumers of rural areas did not exceed this amount.
