Chandigarh, June 4 (UNI) The Haryana Government has announced a bonanza for its employees by raising their Daily Allowances (DA) and hotel charges by upto 30 per cent State Finance Minister Birender Singh today said that this decision had been taken due to the persistent demand from various quarters to revise the rates of daily allowance as well as hotel charges. These were last revised in 1998.

He said that considering the steep escalation of hotel charges and even stay in other establishments, the increase in DA rates and hotel rates by upto 30 per cent was found justified.

The Finance Minister said that now all Grade-I employees drawing pay of Rs 16,000 and above per month would get daily allowance of Rs 160 instead of Rs 120 within the state of Haryana, about Rs 210 in other states instead of Rs 160 and Rs 260 in other towns having a population of more than 10 lakhs instead of Rs 200.

Mr Singh said that with the decision, Grade V employees of the state government with basic pay of Rs 4,100 and above but less than Rs 6500 would get DA at the rate of Rs 80 in Haryana, Rs 105 outside the state and Rs 130 in other towns with above 10 lakhs population.

Earlier they were being paid Rs 60 in Haryana, Rs 80 outside the state and Rs 100 other towns.

The Minister said that the government had also revised the hotel and tourist bungalow accommodation charges in Delhi.

He further added that in case an officer or official had to stay in an accommodation run on commercial lines in Delhi, then a Grade-I officer would get maximum expenses of Rs 1,300 instead of Rs 1,000.

Likewise Grade II employees would get Rs 975, Grade III would get Rs 650, Grade IV would get Rs 400 and Grade V would get Rs 260 instead of Rs 200.
