Gulbarga, June 4 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contemplating to file a Contempt of Court case against Congress Supremo Sonia Gandhi against for her controversial statement on Mahadayi water sharing with Karnataka, Senior BJP leader and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said today.

Taking strong exception to Ms Gandhi's alleged remarks that Congress party would not allow diversion of the Mahadayi water, Mr Yediyurappa told newsmen that "since the issue was pending before the court, Ms Gandhi's stated amounted to contempt of the court." "We are contemplating to file a 'contempt of court' petition against Ms Sonia Gandhi for her controversial statement on Mahadayi waters which is pending in the Apex Court", he added.

Mr Yediyurappa alleged that by making such a statement during election campaign in Goa the Congress High command has violated model code of conduct. "Her (Ms Gandhi's) statement was nothing but betrayal of people of Karnataka", he added.

Urging Congress leaders to bring pressure on Ms Gandhi to withdraw her remarks, Mr Yediyurappa warned of statewide agitation in protest against the statement.
