Sports Assns asked to use Central schemes

Puducherry, June 3 (UNI) PMK Parliamentary party leader Prof M Ramadass today called upon the sports associations in the Union Territory to make use of the Centrally-sponsored programmes and the financial assistance provided by the Union Sports and Youth Welfare Ministry.

Laying the foundation stone for the Rs 4.71 lakh floodlight facility at the tennis court in Curcle Sportiff here, he said Puducherry had good scope for promotion of sports and games. The territorial Government had been encouraging village-based sports activites, but the hidden talents of youths were yet to be fully tapped.

Prof Ramadass, providing money from his area development fund for the floodlight facility, said infrastructure was essential to encourage sports events in urban and rural areas here.
