Rajasthan agitation forces Railways to cancel 8 trains

New Delhi, June 3 (UNI) In the wake of the agitation in Rajasthan by Gujjars demanding ST status, the Railways today announced the cancellation of eight trains passing through badly affected regions in the state.

According to a Railway Bulletin here, three trains have been partially cancelled and three others diverted also.

The trains, cancelled in North-Western Railway zone, are Ajmer-New Delhi Shatabdi Express (2016), Jaipur-Gwalior Exp (2987) and Jaipur-Sealdah Spl (986).

In North Central Railway, the Gwalior-Jaipur Express (2988) has been cancelled.

The trains cancelled in Northern Railway region include New Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi Exp (2015), Delhi Sarai Rohilla- Jodhpur/ Bikaner (2463), Bareilly-Bhuj Exp (4311) and Dehradun-Okha Exp (9266).

The partially cancelled trains in North- Western Railway are Jaipur-Jammu Tawi Exp (2413/2414), Jodhpur-Sawai Madhopur Exp (2465/2466) and Jaipur-Jabalpur Exp (2181/2182).

The trains, which faced diversion in the North-Western Railway region, are -- Jaipur-Pune Holiday Spl. (988) via Ajmer-Palanpur-Ahmedabad, Jodhpur-Banaras Exp (4864) via Merta Road-Bikaner-Bhatinda and New Delhi-Ahmedabad Raj. (2958) via Mathra-Kota-Vadodara.

In order to restore Delhi-Jaipur link, two additional train services have been introduced between Rewari and Jaipur on the Meter Gauge section via Rewari-Narnol-Ringus-Jaipur, the bulletin added.
