Law will take its own course: Mayawati on agri land to Big B

Lucknow, June 3 (UNI) Asserting that the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh would not spare anybody committing illegal acts, state Chief Minister Mayawati today said the law would take its own course in the matter related to allotment of agricultural land to Mega star Amitabh Bachchan.

''The law will take its own course in this matter,'' the Chief Minister told a press conference this afternoon.

She was peeved when a reporter asked what action her government proposed in the case of the former brand ambassador of Uttar Pradesh saying ''Why do you hesitate to take name of the person (Amitabh Bachchan).'' Adding the government would follow the law of the land in all the cases which invited legal intervention.

Earlier, Ms Mayawati made it clear that the BSP government would deal with the legal offenders with a heavy hand irrespective of his or her status or persona.

Amitabh Bachchan, known for his proximity with the Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh, had been alloted a piece of agricultural land in adjoining Barabanki district recognising him as a farmer. Later, on a certain objection, the petition of the mega star was rejected.
