Chandigarh, June 3 (UNI) With a view to strengthen the transmission and distribution network in district Karnal, the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) have chalked out an ambitious plan of Rs 110 crore to execute various developmental works.

While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Nigam said that under this ambitious plan, two 220 KV sub-stations would be constructed at Unnispur and Bastara, besides the existing capacity of 33 KV sub-stations at Bhadson and Nagla Megha would also be augmented to 132 KV level. Apart from this, new 33 KV sub-stations would be setup at Chorkarsa and Brass.

He said that Power Utilities had also approved the proposal for augmentation of 33 KV sub-station Garhi Birbal where power transformer of higher capacity would be installed. With the commissioning of new sub-stations and augmentation of existing sub-stations, there would be a considerable consistency in the transmission system and improved voltage would be ensured.

He said that the domestic and tubewell load of 108 feeders of 11 KV level supplying power to the rural areas was being segregated.

The segregation of these feeders would be completed by December next.

The consumers of the villages would get improved power after segregation of these feeders. To make the power supply more reliable, 70 heavily loaded and lengthy feeders would be rehabilitated to reduce the breakdowns.

He added that UHBVN has also fixed a target of releasing 900 new tubewell connections in the district. The work would be executed on turn-key basis. All the meters of non-domestic consumers with 20 KW or above load and 8000 domestic category meters would be shifted outside the consumer premises.

In order to improve the distribution network, 600 new transformers would be added besides the existing transformers with low capacity would be replaced by higher capacity. Old and torn out cables and wires and defective meters would be replaced under the Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme, he added.
