ID card to villagers at Indo-Bangla border
Agartala, Jun 3: For an effective management of Indo-Bangladesh border, the BSF Tripura Frontier has started issuing multi-purpose identity cards to the residents in the border areas.
BSF officials here today said about 1500 ID cards have already been issued in south Tripura and this is the first time in the entire NE region.
It has been initiated to check infiltration and reduce crime along the international border, officials said adding that, ''It will definitely reduce infiltration and help the farmers to cultivate their land outside the fence.'' Meanwhile, BSF Director General A K Mitra is schedule on a three-day visit this evening to review the border situation.
