BJP Women Wing against TV soaps projecting women in bad taste

Dehradun, June 3 (UNI) The BJP's Women Wing today passed a resolution to take up issues like crime against women, female foeticide, reservation in the Parliament for women and projection of women in television shows at its National Executive meeting held at Rishikesh.

After the conclusion of meeting, BJP Women Wing's National President Kiran Maheshwari told reporters that the organisation, beside taking up 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament, has resolved to fight against those television soaps in which women are projected in distasteful manners.

''The number of such soaps are increasing day by day and it is harmful for the women's image as it sends wrong message to the audience'', she asserted. She said that the Women wing would organise an awareness campaign against those soaps.

Ms Maheshwari said that the resolution opposed teaching sex education in schools. Instead, yoga education be pursued by the Wing. Resolution has also been taken to fight against increasing crime against women and female foeticide.

Flaying the National Women Commission, she said that has been a total failure in curbing crime against women. ''As the NCW Chairman is involved in political activities, we demand that she be removed from her post,'' Ms Maheshwari said.

Other resolution passed by the Wing included struggle against demolition of Ram Setu and price hike. Ms Maheshwari said that nationwide protest against both the issues would be taken up by the wing.
