AEC seeks cancellation of Haseena's bail, hearing on June 5
Mumbai, June 3 (UNI) A local court will on June 5 hear the application filed by Anti Terrorist Cell (AEC) seeking cancellation of bail to Haseena Parkar, sister of mafia fugitive Dawood Irabhim Kaskar, in an alleged extortion and cheating case.
The matter will come up hearing before additional session judge R D Mulla.
Additional public prosecutor Mohan Sawant said the AEC has moved the application on the grounds that the metropolitan magistrate did not have the power to grant bail to a person who has been charged with extortion and forgery.
On May 24, additional chief metropolitan magistrate V K Sharma had granted bail to Parkar, who was booked for forgery and extortion case.
The prosecution case is that Parkar had threatened Vinod Avalani, an estate agent and refused to return his Rs 30 lakh which was paid to two builders for a slum redevelopment project deal, but which failed to take off.
The judge, while granting bail, had directed her to attend the AEC for 30 workings days between 1200 hrs to 1600 hrs for recording her statement. She was also directed to cooperate with investigating agency. The police, meanwhile, have claimed that Parkar is not cooperating them.
