923 criminals convicted through speedy trials in May

Patna, June 3 (UNI) Two criminals were awarded capital punishment, while 921 others were sentenced to various jail terms through speedy trials in the state in May last.

Police sources said that one criminal each in Sheikhpura and Darbhanga was awarded capital punishment, while 227 others were sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment by the various courts in the state.

''31 criminals had been awarded 10 years imprisonment, while 663 others were sentenced to less than 10 years of jail terms,'' sources added.

Among others, 211 were convicted in murder case, 126 in arms act, 14 for dacoity, 13 for kidnappings, 9 for rape, and 56 in dowry cases, sources said.
